I'm writing this article for individuals who are new to the internet marketing world, but are interested in learning the steps involved in creating a complete online marketing business from scratch.
I'll cover this topic in four steps, but keep in mind, there are many smaller steps within the four. My goal is to give you a brush stroke view of how a typical online business looks.
Step 1: Choose a Niche
Hopefully, if you're interesting in building an online business then you're probably an expert in a particular area and want help others by creating and selling an info product to teach others what you know. Before you dive in and create your info product, make sure there's a demand for products in your niche. One of the easiest ways to do this is to look for products already selling in your niche. I suggest looking for books and magazines that are selling similar products. If you have difficulty finding these, then it's probably because there's not a demand. If this is the case, become an expert in an area in which there is a demand for products.
Step 2: Acquire Necessary Tools
So many people want to create an online business without spending a dime. It's possible, but not practical and would be very difficult to pull off. Imagine starting an offline business (carpet cleaning, plumbing, etc.) without investing in equipment or tools? It wouldn't be possible. It's pretty much the same situation with an online business. You need tools to put your business together. These tools include a domain, hosting, website templates, graphic designer, etc.
Step 3: Build Components
Once you have your tools and have decided on a niche, you need create components (i.e. put it all together). These components include your product, a sales letter, payment processor and download page. Once you've created all the components, test the system to ensure that customers will have a smooth, problem-free experience when visiting your sales page and buying your info product.
Step 4: Drive Traffic to Your Offer
This is one of the most overlooked aspects of online businesses. The focus is usually aimed at creating and selling products. However, about 80% of time spent in an internet marketing business is usually on generating traffic.
In a nutshell, these are the four steps for creating an online business. One other thing to keep in mind is that each of these steps must be done properly to achieve success. If you get one of the steps wrong, all your hard work may be in vain. Get it right and you could have a profitable online business that will generate income for years to come.
